Topic: Coffee Roasting at Disneyland (4 msgs / 81 lines)
1) From: Coffee
I was at Disneyland the other day (more specifically at California
Adventure) it was late and we went into the Baker's Field Bakery to
have a snack and there was a coffee roaster. It's a Diedrich, but
couldn't see a model number on it. Comparing with the pictures on the
web, it looks like a Diedrich Model IR-3FM. Which is a 3kg roaster.
There were aslo 4 bags of roasted coffee labeled 5lb House Blend with
that days date on them. There were also several large bags of "green
coffee" but those looked like props. The counter person confirmed that
they roast their own coffee, but otherwise didn't know much about it.
I didn't try a cup because the line was long and the day was late ...
next time. I've often smelled roasting coffee when entering the park
but always thought it was Disney-Coffee-Roasting-Smell(tm). I never
thought to investigate. One thing that makes me nervous is the
branding "Hosted by Nescafe" on the sign...

Wow, who would have guessed? That's very interesting and I know the place
you are talking about. I took my family there last October, the park was
all
dressed up for Halloween and we had a lot of fun. I'll have to check that
out
the next time we go.
As a side note, if any of you have plans to go in the future, be sure to
stop by
for dinner at Vito's Italian Restaurant - 630 Orangewood on Harbor Blvd.,
next
to the Double-Tree Guest Suites. Little + old tiny place next to a
laundromat
that has the best pizza I think I've ever had. Ask for Joe Vito, he'll
shake your
hand, talk your ear off and feed you until you can't walk. ;-)

We're going again in a couple of weeks. I'll definitely check out the
coffee and the pizza!

It fully automated. I tried to ask the operator about it and she
didn't have a clue, just pour in a bag of coffee and press go. It was
not clear that it's for anything other than show. Still cool.
