Roasted a few batches tonight. beautiful night in Cheyenne. 60 degrees,
clear skies, and a small miracle in itself: no wind!! Wow! what a nice
thing to do!
So I roasted 2 batches tonight, the Sumatra Lake Tawar 19+ Extra Bold (wow
what a mouthful!). Roasted it to a Full City. First Crack at 1130, end of
Roast at 1600, about 5 degrees short of 2nd, or so. I'm calling it a Full
City, but I was debating...it's close to a City+, but not quite.
Roast 2: Harar Horse. Oh Man!!! I had 1 lb 8 oz in the bag, I normally
roast 1 lb 4 oz. I roasted it all. I'm out of the Harar! 1st crack at
1245, end of roast at 1450, I'm gonna call it a city+. Culled out about 8
quakers. I know that others have reported differently, but I didn't pull
out any rocks, any bad beans, nothing, out of a 5 lb bag of Harar. Anyway,
I'm really excited about that coffee. I will likely brew some Harar that I
have left over (11 days) in the morning, but Saturday morning that new Harar
is mine.
Anybody had any of the Lake Tawar yet? I don't recall any comments on it.
Hopefully I'll have some before the weekend is out and let you know.
I feel like I am starting to understand the ways that my HG transfers heat
to the mass in the BM, and I can get it to do what I want it to. That's a
nice feeling.
Man, this if fun! I'll let you know how the coffee is!

Man, how pathetic is it to respond to my own post? But just to announce
that Tom will take care of my Harar problem! Am placing an order for a 10#
bag tonight. Another 10# of the Colombian Cerulean Warbler (thanks for the
advice on that one, Les!).
Throw in some of the SCAA roaster's choice #2 Rwanda Gkongoro Nyarusiza,
a few 2# bags of some Kenyans.
Is my stash too big? You bet. But man, that Harar is tough to beat, and
the Colombian is darn tasty. We'll see about the kenyans...
Happy roasting!

Bill,
I just finished off a pound of the Sumatra Lake Tawar 19+ Extra Bold. I am
not a big Indo fan, but I did enjoy this one. Very complex flavors and a
nice finish.

Remember Popeye's friend, that paid for hamburgers on Tuesday?
Say again, "Is my stash too big?"
Only if you got too much...
Can you still see the floor? Keep in touch, we'll let you know.
