Can't seem to get on the map. Are the instructions below correct? When I cl=
ick (I assume "hit" means left click) "My Maps" at Step 2, there is no "edi=
t" and no names. Am I missing something?
Andy, the computer idiot
Instructions:
1.) Put your address in the "search the map" line on the top. Then hit
"Search Maps".
2.) Then, on left, hit "My Maps"
3.) On the left side (above our names), hit "edit".
4.) After that, four icons on the top left side of the map will appear.
5.) Put your cursor over those - second one is the one you want to click on.
(Add a placemark)
6.) Now just fill in your information. =

Hi Andy,
When I did it, I just went to the HomeRoast Google map:http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msa=0&msid3805607926076218082.00044e3c2d9fb3e0670c9I double-clicked on the map to zoom in and held down the left mouse
button while moving the mouse to move the map into proper position.
Then I clicked the Edit button on the left side of the page. Right-clicked
on my (Salt Lake City) location and chose "Add a placemark"
Finally, I filled in the Title, description and clicked on the icon to
choose
a custom icon, clicked OK and clicked the "Done" button on the left side
where the edit button was.
The instructions below will work too but that's just how I'm used to doing
it.
Hope that helps.

I hate to say it but I have given up. I am pretty computer savvy. I
have put in all my company's networks - two locations, computers,
printers, servers, and all of that. But, I can't get anything to
come up after hitting Search Maps, other than my address. I have
waited 10 minutes for something to come up, and I have Fios at 30
mbs, so I am doing something wrong.
Instead, I am going to go to my home office, take some time off and
roast something special for the weekend and next week. That I am
learning how to do. And, I get to enjoy it after I roast it, rather
than just look at it.
So, Stephen, from outside Washington, DC (North Springfield, VA)
says, have a great day and a super weekend.

7) From: Ben Salinas
So I think I figured out the problem. When Lynne wrote these instructions,
she probably had already added the map to "My Maps." Let's try these
instructions.
1.) Go tohttp://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ieF&msa=0&msid3805607926076218082.00044e3c2d9fb3e0670c9&mid121545802.) On the left frame, you'll see the name of the map, these instructions,
and a list of names. At the top of that frame you should see "Save to My
Maps." Click on this link.
3.) This will take you to a page asking you to log in to your google
account. If you don't have one already, you might have to make one.
4.) You have now been logged in to your google account and should be back
at the Google Maps webpage.
5.) On the left frame, click "My Maps"
6.) Select "HomeRoast List Members".
7.) Click on "Edit"
8.) Put your city and state (or address, if you want to give that level of
detail... keep in mind this map is open to the public) in the "search the
map" line on the top. Then click "Search Maps".
9.) You should see a row of four buttons on the top left side of the map
(next to the zooming). Click on the one between the hand and the line ("Add
a placemark")
10.) This lets you place a placemark wherever you want on the map. Place
it in an appropriate place (either on top of your city name, or in your part
of town, or on your house).
11.) This brings a popup which allows you to edit the name and the
additional information. Type your name in for the name, and include what you
roast in and what city you live in for the Description. If you'd like a
different icon, you can click on the image on the top right of the popup
(just below the little x). Click Ok and you should be done.
If this doesn't work, or if you don't want to deal with it, feel free to
e-mail your name, city and state, and roast method to
ben.salinas I'll go ahead and put it
up.

Don't feel alone. I may be down on the Columbia River, Stevenson, Washington
but it is not far to Mike McKoffee's Paridise Cafe in Vancouver Wa. the host
to the PNWG VI coming up June 14 if I have the date right. It is amazing how
many closet roasters are coming out all the time.
I spent 3 lucky years stationed at Whidbey Island Naval Air Base. Best duty
station anyone could hope for. Very beautiful area.

Yikes! It shouldn't let me do that. Maybe it only changed it on my

not have been able to change any other than my own, but it appears to
me that cleaning up the crowded Shenandoah Valley, Northern Virginia
and one out in the Atlantic ocean may have changed place markers for
other folks. If so, I apologize, warn the list and promise not to do
it again. If my changes went to everyone else's map, then it appears
that anyone could change anything including other user's comments or
