Daterra Farms Yellow Bourbon. About 4 days rest. I brought this one
into first more slowly, trying to perfect the technique with a more
forgiving bean before I try another batch of yemen. This batch is
about city and it is quite good. I stretched the roast out to 20
minutes, by dropping the grill temp (RK) vs a batch like this would
normally have finished about 16 minutes without the temperature drop.

Jamie,
Sounds like you are successfully gaining control of your roasts. You
mentioned that you stretched this roast and that it is "quite good". I
was wondering what differences you note as a result of stretching the
roast, both things that you like about the roast and what, if
anything, you don't like so much.

HI
I feel like I got this roast to be even more consistent overall. So I
love the way the beans look, nice and clean and consistent. The taste
is good, smooth, but it feels like there is a little something
missing, perhaps I roasted it just a smidgen too long. Overall, I
don't think there is alot of different in taste in this roast, but I
think what I am learning is giving me more control over how done I get
my roasts.
The biggest reason I wanted to learn to stretch out the roast was
because every time I roast one of the yemen coffees I get it too done.
I hope that if I apply a similar method to the roasting of the yemen
that I will be able to get some yemen that is roasted properly. A lot
of my batches of yemen ended up looking and tasting like something
from starbucks.

Pulling shots from a blend of El Salvador Orange Bourbon - City+ -
40%, Indonesian Flores Jade - Full City - 30%, Yemen Mokha Sharasi -
City+ - 20% and Indian Monsooned Malabar Elephant - Full City - 10%.
Everything has rested 3 days with the exception of the Sharasi which
has rested 5 days.
This is a new blend for me and I'm liking it ... a lot.

Yirga Cheffe Konga, City roast - lighter than I usually go - took Tom's
advice and it's great!
Getting ready for an AP Brazil Poco Fundo, FC - tried for almost Vienna but
stopped the roast a bit early.

Kenya Auction Lot AA WP Decaf. I've been really messing up my decaf roasts
lately, and I was very, very careful with this one and also a Costa Rica
Decaf I roasted today. Both smelled really good - so I had to make a cup of
the Kenyan. Roasted it a bit too much - will have to see what it's like
after the roast.
