Topic: I did it. Mazzer is comming (13 msgs / 217 lines)
1) From: Jamie Dolan
Finally did it. Saw the prices were going up, and decided I had to buy it.
Got a good price on a Mazzer Mini e Mod A, Dosserless 64mm burrs, brand new.
I would have loved to have bought a Mazzer from SM, but I decided I
had to have the dosserless, and he does not carry that model.
It's on it's way.
Now you can start the bidding on my old cusinart... (thats a joke).

Nice. Hard to beat a grinder upgrade like that.

Getting a Mazzer Mini changed my coffee life forever. I went from beating
my head over espresso to having it be a no-brainer.
I still keep Rocky around for my normal drip methods and French press,
though.
Enjoy! It is a great machine.

HI;
Yes I will. It is suppose to arrive tomorrow. They sent it with the
in person signature required, so I am going to have to be here to sign
for it. I hope it is early in the day because I have some things I
need to deal with, like a welding repair on my RK drum.

" I still keep Rocky around for my normal drip methods and French press,

You will find that the Mazzer can grind coffee better than any other junk-
why litter the place?
Starting antique tag store or a museum? A forest of big grinders can't grind
any better than the best one, and it will grind better than any of the
others.

The big ruffled thing on top could be used for adjustment of the burr
separation, grind size...

Actually in an espresso shoot out with a true Titan of a grinder, the $2k+
Mazzer Robur, Rocky went a split decision winning two rounds and loosing two
rounds while the Mazzer Mini lost all four rounds. Which is to say all
Mazzers are not created equal. Calling a Rocky "junk" is ignorance plain and
simple.

I've been eyeing the Mazzers for a while now....seems like that is pretty
much the best upgrade you can make in terms of equipment.
One thing I've been confused about though is the difference in models.
What's the difference between a Mazzer Mini and Mazzer Mini P (both are at
wholelattelove.com). The only difference I can spot is a $110 price
difference. The doserless E model adds electronic controls and removes the
doser (obviously)....anything else?

Larger Burrs, 64mm (on the E model) vs 58mm, and the electronic
doser(again on the E model).
Check out their comparison tool.

Laziness. I like to keep the Mazzer dialed in for espresso, plus or minus a
few clicks. I don't feel like re-arranging it multiple times a day to cover
drip, etc., then cleaning out the hopper each time. To each his own.

Indeed, I am ignorant.
BTW- what grinder do you use when you absolutely can't fail?
