Topic: I forgot what I am drinking this morning (7 msgs / 154 lines)
1) From: pecanjim
This morning I am stuck in a Motel near the Omaha airport. I am drinking a peaberry but I don't remember its name. But, what ever it is, it is the highpoint, along with internet access, of an otherwise frustrating situation.
    Warning: End of coffee content.
I am here because we are moving my daughter and granddaughter from Sioux Falls, SD back to Alabama. The plan was that I would fly to Omaha from Birmingham while my wife and the granddaughter of the subject move would fly from Washington DC and meet me in Omaha. We were to meet early yesterday afternoon, rent a car and drive up to Sioux Falls where we would rent a U-Haul, load up the daughter's and granddaughter's stuff and make a three day drive back to good old LaPlace Alabama. Well, my wife and granddaughter's flight from O'Hare to Omaha was canceled so they are stuck at a hotel there without a change of clothes and I am stuck at this motel waiting for them to get out of Chicago so we can continue with this joyous move.

Pecan Jim, that totally stinks. Hope all gets straightened out soon.
I'm drinking a cup of Guatemala Agua Tibia this morning. Roasted 8 days ago
to C+, brewed in my vac pot, this is a good cup. My next cup will be a FP
of the last of the Indian Tree Dried Natural. That's some pretty darn good
heavy-bodied coffee.
And I'm gonna roast a ton of coffee today. well, not a ton, but like 10
pounds or so. move some older stuff out...
Again, jim, hope you get outta omaha to sioux falls.
i hope everyone else has a great day!

I am not sure what I am drinking this AM either. It was that last of two
coffees that made enough for a TV Pot. I have some Brazil Bird Processed
roasted and resting for tomorrow. Not the new stuff, but the last pound
from last year. I also have an El Salvador Peaberry resting. Yesterday, I
pulled 45 shots in 90 minutes at church. The old Expobar and Mazzer Major
were going non-stop the whole time. I went through 2.5 pounds of coffee.
It made for an exciting time.

OK, Jim, first off, sorry for your move problems. Seems like something
always comes up to make something fairly straight forward or simple, more
irritating and difficult than what it should be. But, don't let it get to
you. It just makes the old BP go sky high and doesn't help anything. :>).
Enjoy your cuppa Joe this morning.
I am enjoying mine, the last of my Sumatra Mandheling.

Jim,
Hope you have enough coffee to allow for the delays...could be a very bad
thing. Good luck with the move. Supposed to be sunny later this afternoon,
here in eastern Iowa. Perhaps flights will get back on schedule and you can
reunite with your wife and daughter yet today.
Enjoying an AP of Indonesia Flores - Bajawa Highlands (C+ @ 5 days rest).
Yumm!

I hear you, Jim--it is SOOO frustrating! But be VERY careful when you
do get the go-ahead to leave Omaha. The Midwest--especially the
Mississippi and points east, from central WI (due W of a line starting
in southern SD-central NE) has been going through some very nasty
weather these past two days--twisters near Madison, Milwaukee,
Rockford and Chicago; a dam burst at Lake Delton (the manmade
reservoir created on the WI River near the Dells) sweeping away
vacation homes and threatening resorts (the lake level has dropped 8"
since this morning, and the river level risen 4" in the same time);
and flooding all through WI, IA, IL and IN.
Yesterday I played what was to be an outdoor concert (moved inside to
higher ground, thank goodness) in a state park located on Lake Mendota
just NW of Madison. My motel was located on a knoll overlooking the
I-90/US 12 interchange. I was having breakfast in the lobby, watching
pelting downpours and small hail, when I saw a mound of gravel in the
middle of the parking lot. I asked the day manager what that was for.
She said that as long as the the mound is fully visible, everything is
fine; when only the top few inches stick out, they advise guests to
stay put and wait out the rain; and when the mound is submerged, the
place goes on lockdown and nobody is allowed to attempt to drive. (And
checkout time is extended indefinitely, duh).

ahhh, moving...
When you move every two-three years you build up a multitude of horror
stories, in fact...every move is one.
But that is not until NEXT year.
No Iraq for 09...yet.
