My wife, granddaughter, and I finally got united about 28 hours later than originally scheduled. We are not in Sioux Falls packing and loading. My wife picked up some of the Caribou Coffee that won first place in the recent taste competition when she was in DC, It really made a fine French press this morning.
I just want to thank everyone who responded to my rather whinny post. It really helps to have someone out there to talk to in situations like this. Tomorrow we start the 1400+ mile run to La Place, Alabama.

Jim,
Glad to hear you and family are back on track, if not on schedule. I don't
envy you the drive (and certainly not the gasoline bill), but I am sure you
will be repaid many times over by having daughter and granddaughter back
close to home.

I also just happened to be in Sioux Falls on Tuesday - quick trip up
for my Dad's 75th birthday. Came back on Wednesday and those winds
were *BRUTAL*! It wasn't too bad when we were going straight into
them (except for the reduced mileage) but a lot of the way there were
hitting at about 15 - 20 degrees left of straight on. Normally we
make one stop on the trip between KC & Sioux Falls and that's to top
off the gas. Made extra stops yesterday just to rest from fighting
the winds and when we got home I was so wiped out I 'lost' the rest
of the day recovering.
Jim, hope you and the trailer made it through ok!

Steve,
Thanks for the concern. We made it home about 4:30 yesterday
and I was able to pick up the dogs from the kennel before they closed
at 6:00. The truck and trailer are now unloaded and our daughter is
organizing her things. We will go out for dinner rather than try to
fix something here. You are right the winds were bad.
