improbability with the name of Italian Cafe and decided to try their
espresso even though I knew it wouldn't be as fresh as my home roast (also
knowing that my jar of homeroast at the office was now empty after the
It was supposed to be just a single espresso. What came out looked closer to
a double, had smallish amount of crema. It was not horrible, it was actually
much better than the usual double from Starbucks-- which is to say not burnt
or extremely bitter. Not sweet, but not not-sweet either.
Then, after I finished it, I went back to my ice water with a slice of lemon
in it and my mouth exploded with sweetness. It was the strangest thing-- I
have never experienced such sweetness from water with lemon or a shot of
espresso. I kept drinking and it kept going for several more drinks and even
halfway back to the office.
It was extremely nice. I have to experiment now. Anyone ever experienced
anything like this?
