Topic: Update of decafs... (39 lines)
1) From: Ken B
I promised I would get back to the list with my impressions of the decaf
as a replacement for my iced tea, so here it is.
First off, as a drinking coffee (hot, FP, Chemex, AP) I do not much like
it. It has a rather strange flavor that the normal Sumatra/Columbia
does not have. I was pretty disappointed with the flavors, since I
really enjoy the Sumatra coffees.
Here is the breakdown. I roasted Sumatra Lintong Nihuta KVW decaf to
FC+ and some Columbia MC decaf to FC. By themselves, they are not very
much to my liking.
HOWEVER, with the AP,
1) use a scoop of each,
2) grind it half way between FP and pour over,
3) add the coffee to a 12 oz glass with a teaspoon of turbinado sugar
using the 2 cup on the AP,
4) add 2% milk to fill the 12 oz glass about 3/4 full,
5) add ice and shake it like a martini and
6) serve it either over ice or into a thermal glass
It is delicious! It is definitely a good replacement for iced tea! :-)
I've also made cappuccinos, lattes and other drinks with these decafs,
but the above is what I like the best of the lot. If you want to drink
something nice at night that won't keep you up all night, you might want
to give this a shot.
As always, your taste buds may vary! :-)
Best Regards,
Ken B
