Hello everyone! This is my first post to the list and I wanted to quickly
introduce myself. I was first introduced to home roasting (and Sweet Marias)
years ago by my buddy Matt back home in MI. I wasn't much in to coffee at
the time, but I could appreciate the craftmanship of his hobby. He is very
similar to myself in the way he becomes totally obsessed with things.
Fast forward to a couple years ago when I started to really get in to
coffee. I went out and bought a Rancilio Rocky and a bunch of different
brewing apparati (all from Sweet Marias) and started experimenting with
different brewing methods. I bought all my roasted beans from the local
roaster (shout out to Caffe Calabria). I always heard the next step was
roasting your own beans, but I never had any interest in doing so. Mostly, I
think, due to the fact I get too obsessed with stuff like that.
Of course when I got my grinding and brewing methods down, I started getting
bored with it. I wanted more control over everything and the next logical
step was roasting my own beans. I ended up getting a Behmor roaster from
Sweet Marias along with the 8lb sampler pack. I've been hooked ever since.
I've had a lot of fun with it, learned a lot, and have also realized how
much more I need to learn. As much as I love Caffe Calabria, I can't use
their beans anymore. There's no turning back now, I've been spoiled.
Anywho, just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. I've been enjoying the
list immensely so far.
Cheers!
Ben

There is no going back now Ben. I was out this morning and realized I
hadn't had breakfast. I was starved. I could have gone into Jack in
the box and got a breakfast sandwich and have it hot..Or I could opt
to take it to go.Drive home and eat it cold with my own home brew. You
know the Chibata breakfast sandwich is not half bad cold.

Cheers ben,
I also have a behmor and rocky...how do you brew? I used to be moka pot and drip and have changed in the last year to espresso and fp as my general methods.
in the morning I always have a double shot and usually follow it with a french press for a full mug. I have been recently thinking about a vac pot since I hear such good things about it.

Hi Dean,
I alternate mostly between FP (Bodum Melior) and drip (I have a couple
ceramic Beehouse drippers that I love, my second choice would be the Melitta
#2). I just picked up a Bodum Santos that I have yet to use but am excited
to try. I've been using the moka pot more and more and I'm enjoying that as
well. Like roasting, getting an espresso machine is just a matter of time
(and money) but I know it will end up happening. The research has already
begun.
