Topic: Sunday Morning cup(s) > Saturday cup (54 lines)

True to my word & roots started the morning with an extremely smooth, rich,
balanced cup with a delicate dance on palate Americano of Mtn Thndr XF Kona
now at 14 days USRC post roast. KSA standing intact. Besides couldn't have
had a cup of the same Esmeralda Gesha as yesterday morning anyway, that was
last of batch roasted for PNWG VI!
Typed just starting to drink after swooning from the dry fragrance then
again from the brewed aroma second cup of the morning of a 'mistake'. Last
Sunday needed to roast 1&1/2LB roasted to order of a particular coffee and
'accidentally' ended up with 1/2LB post roast too much. So 'forced' to make
this second cup of the morning while the oven pre-heating to make Dutch
Babies a 6 days 18 hour perfectly rested damn this cup sings to me you
guessed it Panama Esmeralda Gesha '07 mixed lot Americano:-) I gotta say
this particular roast of Esmeralda may well be the best I've ever done.
While usually small roasted to orders I've been doing with the CCR HotTop
(and also did for the PNWG VI Esmeralda) and they've been very good this
USRC batch seems to kick the '07 Esmeralda Gesha up yet even another knotch.
Lesson learned. Just a tad smoother and at the same time a tad livelier
dance than any previous batch or many previous batches. I honestly didn't
think it'd make this big a difference! And in reality guess not really a
"big difference", but a definite incremental difference in roast quality to
my palate nonetheless. Cup now gone, what an elegant rich satifying after
taste lingering on. May well have been the best Gesha cup I've experienced
to date.
Gotta tell ya, next year if they again auction their entire crop in Lots
I'll be going after some top Lot either with or against the "Big Boys" Tom &
Wayne. I'm too spoiled to settle for lesser Gesha again. May well pull what
'07 Gesha greens I have left from my roasted to order offerings and keep it
frozen for myself.
Now off the get Dutch Babies for Sunday brunch going...
