Topic: cory rod (6 msgs / 114 lines)
1) From: Dean De Crisce
I was looking on ebay for a cory rod and found a box of 12 unbidded for 49$.
I just thought people might want to know. I have yet to buy a vac pot but am
getting ready to do so. I dont think I need 12 of them.
By the way, I am not the seller and have nothing to do with it...
I didn't really even know what a cory rod was. I was aware that it was a
glass rod filter. Someone very nice on this list was encouraging
me to get a vac pot and offered to send me one of his cory rods. Since I
wanted to know what it was I searched and found that they
are out of production (and therefore hard to come by). I decided that the
offer was too nice to accept, and I would look for one on my own.
I bidded on two of them...but found these. I figure a die hard fan would be
interested.http://cgi.ebay.com/12-Cory-vacuum-coffee-filter-rods-in-boxs-with-display_W0QQitemZ280237321553QQihZ018QQcategoryZ11652QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItemDean De Crisce

Yeah, I saw those, but they are not very hard to come by one or two at
a time. Seems like I see a few most anytime I look. I have a hunch the
glass vessels are more easily broken than the rods.

Dunno, I am still on the same Vac pot...but broke a rod this year right
after I got home. I have two spares now.

Pardon my ignorance, but can someone please explain to me how a glass
rod functions as a filter?
Thanks.

The road has a glass ball in the middle. The ball is textured and does not
form a perfect seal when inserted into the tube that runs between vac pot
globes. These small gaps act as a filter, but are easily clogged if you
have too many fines in your grind. Do a search on ebay and you can see what
these look like.
