Topic: Wednesday's cup (8 msgs / 187 lines)
1) From: Terry Stockdale
The morning started with an eye-opening americano of PNG Kimel
Plantation, roasted to FC in my RK drum. What a way to start the day!
While sipping it, I drip-brewed Panama Organic la Berlina (also FC)
for my next cup, my drive cup, and my 2 16oz Zojirushi vacuum bottles
(am & pm).

Tanzania Hassambo in an FP.
I think I under-roasted it a bit. I was shooting for a solid FC, looking for
the Syrah qualities. I ended up somewhere around a C+, I think, with a sweet
and pleasant coffee, but not terribly complex. May be time to clean the
thermostat area on my Behmor. Just roasted a batch of Sumatra Classic
Mandheling and had something similar happen--half-hearted first and second
cracks.

I'm having a cup of Nicaragua Pacamara Peaberry that I roasted last
Saturday to a City roast. This is a stunning cup. You can smell the
grounds from across the room. The brewed coffee too has a strong, room
filling (in a good way), aroma. I can definitely pick out the pepper
and smokiness in the aroma that Tom talks about in his review, but
there is so much more to it than that. There is an interesting
sweetness when you taste it too. I had a pot of this on Monday too and
there was more fruit flavors. Today the pepper and spice is up front.

Sumatra Lake Tawar 19+ Extra Bold
Roasted on Sunday evening, FC+. First roast on this one and my wife and I
really enjoy it. In the 5 - 6 months I've been roasting this is probably my
favorite thus far (realizing that 5 - 6 months is pretty limited in
experience.)

I am having a cup of Panana from last year. It seems tame next to the new
Misty Valley that was enjoyed yesterday.

My Wednesday morning cup was a Sumatra Classis Mandheling. Roasted yesterday
to FC+, once it cooled a bit I could taste the fruity taste; just delicious!
My wife and I enjoyed it while relaxing in the hot tub this morning. What a
way to start the morning!

Don't drink much iced coffee myself but since serving a fair amount with the
warmer weather figgered I oughta now and then. Since currently running IMV
in the Kafe non Kona SO grinder gave it a whirl this afternoon. (Already
have as straight shots of course, way yum:-) Pulled a double into ~3oz of
tap cold filtered water then topped off 8oz glass with ice. Not half bad at
all, in fact purdy darned good!
