Topic: swiss gold filter cleaning (4 msgs / 121 lines)
1) From: peterz
My swiss gold filter has been working fine for a few hundred pots of
coffee now, and at the beginning I wondered what folks were doing to
make them want to clean them.
That was then;
and the now is that my SG filter has lost it's luster!
It seemed like it would be new looking forever,
but today I noticed it is getting stained!
Soaked it in Dawn,
still the same :(
Has anyone ever put one through a dish washer? Or is there a recommended
way to clean it?
Nothing about cleaning it on the SM site.
Any comments and suggestions gratefully accepted and appreciated.

Use OxyClean in hot water, soak it for a minute, wipe it clean.

It may be crazy..but I have routinely used Windex (with vinegar NOT ammonia) to seriously clean any coffee gunk on anything that can be well rinsed. Works like a charm with no residual taste.
If gunk is the issue....give it a try. Since the swiss gold is plated....if it is that the plating is coming off...well it won't work then!

Oxy Clean isgreat for coffee stains. Cafiza is great for coffee oils.
Windex is great as the finishing touch on the iside of the Behmor
after all the chaffis removed. Baked on gunk on the chaff collector
comes off witg a little Oxy-Clean.
