Topic: A Very Unique Saturday Cup (5 msgs / 174 lines)
1) From: Lynne
This morning I'm sitting enjoying a cup of Guatamala something-or-other. I'm
not
sure exactly which - I'm too lazy to get up and check, and frankly, I don't
even
care. I'm just happy that I can drink it - and that it actually tastes good.
It's been at least a month since I've enjoyed my usual morning cup. I
had/have
some health issues, so my wanna-fast turned into an actual one pretty
quickly.
No coffee - no food, (I did juices for awhile, though, so it wasn't too
difficult) for
about 10 days. Haven't had much time to spend on the computer (too sick),
and
I didn't want any temptation, so I've been deleting most messages unread for
awhile now; I even considered unsubbing from the list, since it didn't make
any
sense if I wasn't able to drink any homeroast. Lost some weight (woo-hoo!)
and
avoided an emergency ER operation (although I might be headed for one
eventually,
but with a skilled surgeon at MGH, not an emergency situation - I hope!)
Still not feeling terrific (and the latest warning fr the FDA about one of
the antibiotics
prescribed to me - cipro - doesn't exactly make me feel all that confident).
BUT, today
I'm able to enjoy a cup for the first time in what seems like an eternity,
and MAN,
that's a good cuppa!!!
Oh - I did check - and I'm actually drinking Ethiopian Yirgacheffe (a kind
gift from my
good friend, Ann McCann - thank YOU so MUCH, Ann!!). This coffee is
delicious.
Deep, rich - chocolatey. *This* is why I drink homeroast!! Hey - I'm so
happy to be
able to drink - and enjoy - this (and any) homeroast!!
I did learn that I have more willpower than I ever imagined (especially with
the threat
of death hanging over my head, lol), that I *can* exist without good
homeroast if I had
to (life is better *with* homeroast - but as Vicki once said - it's only
coffee...) - oh, and
although it takes almost as long to introduce food back into the body as it
takes to do
a fast, food tastes incredible afterwards.
A mere slice of fresh fruit is ambrosia to the senses.

Thanks, Dean. I'm better than I've been feeling - but not great (yet).

Lynne,
I'm glad you are feeling (some) better, and will be looking forward to more
reports of continued improvement. It's good that you are again able to
enjoy the temporarily lost pleasures of favorite foods and coffees.
