Topic: one year roasting anniversary (5 msgs / 134 lines)
1) From: Stephen Carey
Well, guys, I guess I have a real hobby and passion. Today is one
year from my first roast, a quarter pound of Costa Rica Vino De
Arabia. It was roasted, with much help from all of you, in my, at
that time, my virginal IR2. And, I haven't given it away or quite
home roasting, it just seems to run through my blood.
Tonight I will be roasting a half pound of the same coffee in my
Behmor, though I still use my IR2, at times. It will be by 99th
roast, so I may have to do two roasts to hit an even one hundred. I
haven't roasted much lately as I spent over a week in the hospital,
then hit Costa Rica for a wonderful twelve day vacation at our home
down there. I drank great coffee, freshly roasted, by the man who
got me interested in home roasting. Before I left I posted about
what coffee could I roast which would still be fresh when I
returned. My mind blanked, for all I had to do was have my friend
roast for me. I made some a little while ago; oh, how wonderful it is.
Thank you all for your continued help and support.
Stephen

Congratulations Stephen. You and I must have started the same week. My
one year anniversary is tomorrow, and I have already broken the 100
roast mark, and am coming up on the 150 mark. I did about 3 roasts a
week for the first 4 months, then started doing 4-6 a week. :-) Yes, I
am very caffeinated, but enjoying every second of it. :-D
I started with a FR8 that I sent to Ben in a tradition. (BTW...BEN,
where are you? How is it working for you?) Then I got the IR2 and have
steadily tweaked that to where I think I am getting decent roasts from
it. I see a USRC somewhere in my future though. :-D
Best Regards,
Ken B

Happy Anniversary, Ken. It is great isn't it. And, so much comes
from how everyone here takes their time and experience to help
others. They set ego aside to work with those of us who are having
issues. Also, for the most part, people are not looked down about
for the way they roast, that is great.
Have a great next cup of your home roast,
Stephen
