Topic: compost and coffee (3 msgs / 55 lines)

Yes, I've been using coffee grounds in compost (and worm bins) for years.
For making compost, I wish we had the humidity of St. Louis if I could limit it
to the few square feet we devote to compost but for the most part I'll take
our dry Colorado climate (elevation and dryness apparently excellent for
roasting coffee--take that Seattle).

By the way, does anyone else have problems hearing the cracks on IRoast?
It's so noisy I really can't hear them whereas on my little Fresh Roast the
cracks, first and second, come through loud and clear exactly as they're
programmed to do. You might not be able to adjust the temp on this little machine but
it's nice to control the cracking.

Yep...I think others here have referred to the machine as iRoar? :)
Sometimes the pops of first crack on mine sound very much like popcorn,
other times I don't know if I'm just hearing the beans spilling onto
each other as they tumble out of the metal deflector in the middle of
the roasting pot, which I guess is bean variety/age/quality dependent?
When roasting I try to avoid second crack, but in those times when I
think I've reached it, I could barely notice a crackling sound--if the
bean color jibes with the sound then I immediately hit the cool button.
Hope that helps!?

I never could reliably hear the cracks on the iRoast and thus never
was sure what I was looking for. But the Behmor solved that problem.
