Can't speak to Tom and his Probat, but with the USRC 3k early stages ET
higher than BT then decrease ET until below BT going into 1st. I do this
with combination of decreased burner and increased airflow. How much lower
ET to BT depends on the bean/roast but never more than 20f or stall
imminent.

Thanks Mike   been having a discussion on HB with Jim S. on managing
ET in a roaster. Toms info page by Carl Staubhttp://www.sweetmarias.com/roast.carlstaub.html has been part of the
reference. Tom and Josh have been talking about gentle first cracks on
the probat but for a homeroaster the ET to do such should be
considered. Generally,much is talked about not stalling the BT during
first crack but not as much about the effects of ET drop. In
homeroasters thermostat swings can be an issue.
