Sure hope you never have to use that soda-acid fire extinguisher. Somebody
might try, THEN you'll have an emergency!

Eddie,

That's one beautiful machine.  I'd love to hear how it works out as you g=
row accustomed to it.  The last photo was the most interesting, IMO---wou=
ld love to see more inside the machine.  Particularly interested in how d=
irect the flames are to the drum, the size of the perforations in the drum,=
etc.  I roast with an RK drum and have had better success with it since =
I got rid of the heat diffusers (aka grilling bricks) and let the flames co=
me in near-direct contact with the drum.  Also, where is your store?  I=
t is beautiful!

Cheers,
Paul

Paul,
DON'T I WISH! But, in the future ...
It belongs to a gentleman that owns Bankhouse Coffee in the town where
I live, Long Beach, Misssissippi.
Bankhouse Coffee
126 Jeff Davis Ave
Long Beach, MS 39560
(228) 868-2660
Interestingly enough, as the story was told, the owner originally
purchased a Royal No. 4 (15 pound capacity) to be refurbished by
someone several states away. The person that was refurbishing it
wouldn't return his calls or email, but one day he got an email that
stated his roaster was ready and to come pick it up. When he and his
buddy arrived for pickup, the gentleman motioned toward the Royal No.
6 (75 pound capacity) and the coffee shop owner told him that he had
ordered a Royal No. 4 ... "Oh ... well ... that's yours now." The
owner of the shop loaded it in the truck ...
This picture will give you a better idea of the difference in size:http://www.oldcoffeeroasters.com/images/royal/Royal4/David.jpgEddie

Long Beach, MS? I haven't heard of that one. Big town? I wonder how many
Long Beaches are in the lower 48? Everybody (methinks) knows of Long Beach,
CA. We also have one here in Washington. Must be a popular name. How long
is your Long Beach?
Rambling....
Bob

You don't see a lot of 4's or 6's. Royal #5's are ubiquitous, always
one one ebay it seems. I think they might have been the machines used
in A&P markets, but I am not sure. Yep - big difference between a 4
and a 6! Eeks - what coffee is that coming out of the picture below???

I was going to ask the same thing. Either that guy and the roaster are tiny, or those beans are huge!

oh, I thought you were just trying to make the #4 look *_really_* small.
that would make the person in the picture a real life leprechaun.
