Topic: Brass coffee pot question (3 msgs / 38 lines)
1) From: Kris Bhatti
Does anyone know if these ornate brass coffee pots are actually meant to be used or are they just decorative? I picked one up today, it stands about 11" tall so it's certainly big enough to be used. I like the way it looks anyway, but just thought I would find out if anyone knows how they are used. I'm thinking it would be the thing to use to serve cups of Turkish coffee. http://picasaweb.google.com/krisbhatti/ThriftStoreCoffeeEquipment/photo#5228243001822487602Kris

Kris I think the item is used for washing hands after a meal. It is
filled with rose water, a basin is placed by the dinners side (they
are sitting on the floor. Water is poured on the hands from the vase
over the basin.

If it is tin plated on the inside it might be for coffee. Otherwise, I agree
with Barry that it might be for warm water for hand washing.
