Topic: How do you "Gift" a flavored coffee drinker? (11 msgs / 202 lines)
1) From: Edward Bourgeois
I have new neighbors and talking with the husband learned that his
wife REALLY likes good coffee. I was letting him know about the
roasting aromas that might occasionally drift over to his yard. And
said I'd bring her some coffee next time I roast. He invited me to his
wifes 30th birthday outdoor party and at a point she walk by about 10
feet away with a pot of coffee and I got a big wiff of hazel nuts.
hmmm. What do I roast for her?

Edward,
As was stated by David Martin in a post yesterday:
"The path to coffee enlightenment is long, with many stages."
You will have a long time to introduce your new neighbors to the
complexities of good coffee. My thoughts: Be generous, and be patient.

[Mom liked Hazel nuts, too]
"What do I roast for her?"
Wouldn't you roast Your favorite, roast some Hazel nuts separately, break
'em up in a whirley grinder, bag them like tea leaves, enclosed in a paper
filter for post- service soaking?
Suggest they try a sip of your black unadulterated brew, then soak to their
heart's content in their cup. That way the real thing remains virgin, not
SNAFU, should they have second thoughts.
Or, try your own recipe- A lot of work, but somebody has to do it. The Hazel
nuts may obliterate massive Specialty coffee use
Maybe something will be a breakthrough discovery. Then Post!

Got Grinder still?

So many options!? I thought for a moment of asking how I might try
post roast flavoring. I could bring her some hazel nut homeroast. But
suddenly the wind whipped up and I starting hearing voices(probably of
list members). So I scrapped that noble thought. I will probably
decide the "tradition" way by putting the suggestions in the roast pot
and drawing one.
thanks all

"RayO, that was just plain mean."
Brown was sweating when he delivered mine two years ago. Nothing about the
machine indicated that it was particularly mobile or tactical, and Brown
wanted to know where I wanted him to put it.
"Gimme!"
The box from Hufford had already arrived, and I received an espresso maker
that had an additional piece of chrome from my order. The grinder more than
made up for their beneficence- a rebadged Solis. Same burrs and mechanism.
Not my exact favorite at the time.

If it looks like a Duck, quacks like a Duck and waddles like a Duck, good
chance it's a Duck...

How do you "Gift" a flavored coffee drinker? Could be difficult. I'm
pretty sure nobody on this list would want one.

In a gift bag, place a package of your expertly roasted coffee
(Guatemalan?) and another package that contains some freshly roasted
hazelnuts.
