Topic: Support needed for a Gesha Lot 5 and a GC (3 msgs / 81 lines)
1) From: Frank Parth
Considering the cost and quality of the Gesha Lot 5 I just ordered, I'd really hate to waste any beans just trying to
get the roast right. Tom's notes say to stop the roast just after first crack ends.
I have a GeneCafe and was wondering what would be the best profile for this bean. I normally go 5.5 minutes at 325,
then 5.5 minutes at 425, and then ramp it up to 482 until first crack starts before backing it down to 456 until I end
the roast.
Thoughts and suggestions for this bean are very welcome. I want to get this one right the first time.

Hi Frank.
I'm sorting this out myself. Graded at SHB, (strictly hard bean) it will =
most likely need higher heat at the middle stage. Your profile looks =
great for a low grown, less dense bean. At SHB, I think this bean will =
like it HOT!
If I'm wrong, I'll find out right here or with my tests of lot 5.
I warm/dry for 5 minutes at 300 and for this bean, I think I'll go to =
470 right away and stay there until about one minute into first and dial =
back to 450-455 - don't know which until I taste the first one out of =
the drum...
I'm still looking into it and will wait for further input from out =
fellow Gesha enthusiasts.

Thanks, John,
I'll wait to hear back from you and then try my own version and let you know.
