Dave-
I think we're both nuts! I picked up 16 lbs. last week and now another $100
today on BEANS! Got the Koraties, the Blackburn and of all things the Panama
Indian Robusta. It's a good FP and man it packs a zippy punch!

We're not nuts; we're victims. I long for a simpler time, when
purchasing coffee meant tossing a bag of Eight O-Clock in the grocery
cart. :-)

I dare you - no, I *double dare* *you* to go to your grocery store, toss
that
Eight O-Clock coffee in your cart... and later, brew and DRINK it.

My earliest memories of Eight O' Clock Coffee are the red bags of whole
beans. Mom would call Pop Jackson's Market at Knoxville and Forrest Hill,
and if I was just getting the coffee, I'd walk the three blocks and get
change from the 50 piece she gave me.
At the super market she'd send me up with a list, they'd pull the groceries,
bag 'em, put it on our tab and I'd ride home with the newspaper basket full
on my bike. There were times when Eric Sundeen, the super market grocer,
would take a bigger order over the phone and deliver it personally because
he had more gas ration stamps as a businessman. Big war going on back then.
We had a victory garden, grape vines and 16 fruit trees in the orchard.
Times were tough, but we kids knew nothing worse than the fun of weeding the
garden and picking fruit. One of the fruit trees had five different kinds of
apples grafted into it, and peas are really sweet, straight out of the
pod...
