Topic: The end of a long road? (4 msgs / 87 lines)
1) From: Terry McVay (rr)
Greetings folks,
Just returned from a rather long business trip to learn that it will no
longer be possible to get coffee shipped from Sweet Maria's to Hawaii, and
me with only two pounds left in the stash. (a rather excellent Sumatra) So
having fired up the BBQ and roasting it all I contemplate a rather bleak
future.
Oh, we all knew this was coming.. and I admire Tom's hold on principles. (No
one, but no one should be able to pick and choose which laws to follow...)
And after all, I do live in Kona.
It's only that after all these years, it may be too hard to just be friends.
Aloha,
Terry

Terry,
Good to see you on the list again! Cindy and I fondly remember our
all-too-brief visit with you in 2001.
I hope the rule makers will adjust the rules so you can still get the
good stuff that Tom sells.
Dave

Terry,
We do share your loss. I don't know how you overcome this
obstacle. Does it mean that you can't buy beans from anyone?
Don't be a stranger. I certainly can't speak for all, but I know
many of us like having your input, advise, and just your thoughts and
experiences on roasts.
I too appreciate the character of SMs and their decision to follow
the law. It is there for a reason, we should obey. I do when I go
to my house in Costa Rica, we are speaking of other peoples'
livelihoods here, so it is no small thing. I also hope it doesn't
hurt SMs too much in the way of lost business.
Terry, remember, you can still share your stories of roasts, things
you have learned and so on with us. We want you to be here.
I am very sorry you have to go through this, but all will work out in
some manner.
All the best,
Stephen
