I'm still puzzled by the number of mosquito which come around while I'm
roasting out in my open garage. Some months ago I wondered if it might be
the CO2 from the roast which was attracting them. We beat that around a bit
inconclusively.
Now I'm wondering if the sound of the Behmor's motor might be the lure. The
motor whines and might have overtones close to mosquito's frequency.
Unfortunately, I don't have any audio frequency measuring capability other
than a cheap guitar tuner and it only tells me the note (G unloaded @
117VAC), not what frequency or even what octave it is in.

According to Wikipedia, female mosquitos hunt by smelling CO2.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MosquitoOn 8/10/08, Paul Helbert wrote:

Give me a minute, I'll change it to say they hunt by coffee scent and I'll
even reference this thread so it will be true! I will be sure to mention
they only go for the cheapest, stalest coffee or the over-roasted super-dark
coffee. ;)
However, if you believe the mosquito trap sellers (the propane burning
mosquito killers they sell at the places of orange aprons) they do hunt by
CO2.

Mosquitoes are seriously attracted to raw propane along with every fly
for miles. Makes finding a gas leak real easy.
