Hi
I've been busily working on BehmorThing and it's completely different
than it use to be. Now you can among other things roast 2 batches of
coffee in 2 different roasters in the same time, compare the detailed
results of 2 roasts side by side and other cool stuff. But, it's
completely different visually. So if you've been using Behmor thing
and want to play with a version using an MDI interface send me an
email off the list and I'll send you what you need to look at the new version.

Since I don't roast with the Behmor haven't followed all the Behmor threads
that closely so this might be old news on the List. If not ran across a

Welcome to the future! Thanks for the mention, I wrote it and I
think it's been brought up hare before, but I'll take any publicity I
can get. It's probably far enough along even non Behmor users
looking for a simple database to track coffee inventory and roasts
might find it useful.

Hmmm, not sure about the "Welcome to the future!" intent. If you mean I'll
be "upgrading" to a Behmor, no I already have one but it's a backwards step
in roast control from my previous primary home roasting dual variable
boosted voltage controlled split wired Caffe Rosto and current primary home
roaster (J.P.) Computer Controlled HotTop or my PLC profile control USRC
3k:-)
Don't get me wrong, absolutely nothing against the Behmor 1600. It's a great
$300 large max capacity entry level control home roaster. Abilities versus
cost quite possibly the best home roaster value out there. And your program
should make it easier to use detailing the myriad possible batch size
profile permutations. Not saying it's the best "off the shelf" home roaster
out there, best value. I believe the HotTop is a better roaster, but at a
substantially greater price. And then there's possibly the "best" home
roaster out there USRC .5k at a SUBSTANTIALLY greater price:-)

Just it was mentioned months back on the list. I have no illusion
that a Behmor is the end all of roasters. It does a pound, or in my
case usually 12 ounces, it cost $230 or so which was reasonable at
the time and it fits in our tiny condo, otherwise by now I'd have a
USRC or something of that ilk. Sorry, that wasn't supposed to be an
insult, just a silly comment about missed content on the list.

Hi
Apologies if I already posted this, but I just can't remember and
don't think I did. As of this weekend BehmorThing can almost log the
temperature profile of a roast. Almost meaning that you can log it
and look at it but it's not saved. It will be saved as soon as I'm
sure that I'm saving the right thing. If anyone not using a Behmor is
interested in that I'd be most grateful if you'd look at how it works
and tell me if there is anything I can do to make it useful for you.
At some point I'll make a way to hide the Behmor profile from showing.

It's always so much fun to come along and tell people you made a
big boo boo. Ah well. a couple of days ago I mentioned Id uploaded a
new version of BehmorThing and I see that a bunch of people
downloaded it except I messed up one of the links and most of you get
the old version, so if you downloaded version 1.2.5 and not 2.0.0 you
might want to try again.

I have benefitted from your Behmor Thing and finally attempted to update to=

I have nothing. Tried updating to 1.2x, tried the other apparent moves.
 =
Several crashes during the attempt (Win XP). Not even the roasting profile=

I really enjoyed the simple version which worked before.

Ira, I apologize all over the place. I had read the various posts and the =

There is no way that I intended to disparage your efforts on our behalf; I=

I must reiterate that when I had the earlier Thing working for me, it reall=

It doesn't matter, I've said on the web site and every time there's
been a problem to contact me and you've never seen anyone ever say
anything about the support that wasn't positive. Ask, reply to the
private message and I'll get it fixed as best as I can. If you don't
ask, I don't know what the problem is and I can't address it. I'm

phone number I call people to help them. And yes, I do it for free
I'm grateful to the people who've contributed the $110 and 4lbs of

Ira,
May I say a huge thank you for all your efforts. I appreciate what you have
done yet until yesterday never had used your wonderful software. I had only
looked at it to see what P2 would do when I changed the times at different
points. I downloaded the software and entered my stash with the two roasts I
did last night. Until yesterday I didn't use my laptop for anything but work
and didn't take it into the kitchen where I roast my coffee.
I have done some programming myself and understand how labourous it can be.
To offer it to us is a wonderful thing. No software is perfect and
especially when new versions are available. There will be glitches. In the
case of Behmor Thing just having it available is wonderful.
Thank you to SM's for the list and the great site that gives the home
roaster everything they need. We have access to so much knowledge through
both sources. I don't know what I would do without either. The website not
only gives us the best beans from around the world but also the information
and notes associated with them I have never seen anywhere else. As you find
out what type of beans you prefer SM's makes it easier than anyone else to
experiment with other beans that are similar.
Lets be thankful for what we have in life.

Good morning roasters!
I have been reading in a few forums and discussions about the BehmorThing; does anyone use it and if so, how do I set it up to work parallel with my roast. I downloaded the latest version and was playing around in it lastnight to see what it does. I'm not a 100% sure on its capability, but I've heard others using it while they roast to track times, settings, and what not. If someone has some time and can jot down a cliffnotes version of the ultimate usage for this program, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you &
Have a Merry Christmas!

Finally, after two years roasting with IR 2, I convinced my wife that is
time to get something bigger (she doesn't like the smoke, and knows bigger
means smoke, a lot more)
I was strugling to decide which bigger one Behmor, another IR2 and Hottop
(Diedrich is totally out of question US$ 5K +++, sorry too much for home
roaster). Hottop is very sturdy, nice looking but doesnt pass the test of
1lb roast, another IR2 (work in paralell) will not give me the pleasure of
something new, then I learned Behmor was a full 1 lb, great question
answered!! Behmor is the way.
Time now to learn (even before buy) how this Behmor word works, and
amazingly I found this piece of software called BehmorThing, is is
fantastic, print my labels, create my dbase, even allow pictures to be
saved, wonderfull! I will place my order to SM for my new Behmor, no more
questions.
I'm feeling like a child on Christimas eve, my Santa Claus will bring a
Behmor! I'm sure that he will do that through the chimney with the Behmor
ON!
