Topic: Solis Master 5000 lifespan (2 msgs / 48 lines)

possible double post, sorry.

Question to the SM5k owners out there ~ Just wondering what the average lifespan of these are.
Purchased new from SM over 4+ years ago and I make at least five or six 6oz drinks every day. Lately it's developed a stutter, gets part way through the cycle and stops, starts, stops ... always finishes. I make sure it's brew chamber is cleaned on a regular basis and also run cleaner & descaler via the standard cleaning method and the "secret" methods the Cafe' West techs taught me.
So, ending it's lifespan, or do I need to just replace a couple of vibrator pumps? I've got the schematics, should not be an issue to pop this pup open.
Many thanks!

Hi, Bob- I don't have, and never had the SM5K, but the control circuits for
the pump would not generate the Go - Stop - Go - Stop gate for the ( triac
or power Mosfet?) driving the pump's field coil. Probably a loose wire
connector, crack in the printed wiring trace or an open pump winding, in the
order of, "I hope the problem is..."
A cheap-o voltmeter can be used to troubleshoot the thing. Even the wire may
have pulled loose from one of the terminals on the pump.
Easy fix: just tin and solder the brass grommet on the terminals, if you
find solid power to the push-on connectors or can cause the pump to
intermittently fail to vibrate just by wiggling the connector(s).
