Topic: Labor Day Cup (5 msgs / 95 lines)
1) From: Bob Glasscock
After an anxious weekend waiting for Gustav (we are on the periphery in
South Ala.), a great opener for UA - ROLL TIDE! - and a relaxing Labor Day
with family, made a batch of Panama Esmerelda Gesha (Lot 10) in the Chemex
won in the Tradition from Dean. Roast was FC on one day's rest. Very nice -
I got the citrus and a hint of cinnamon or cardamom. Happy September.

We began the day with a Technivorm brewed pot of Guatemalan
Maragoypia, nice rich cup with spice, pepper and chocolate. This
afternoon taking a bit of a break, Becky had a S.O. Cappo of Uganda
Bugisu, and I had a single and double shot of the same pulled from my
SAMA lever machine. A very smooth silky shot with awesome chocolate
flavor. It was very easy to dial in the Cimbali and the more I use
the Hybrid, the more I like it.

For the morning cup I had some Koratie WP that was about 10 days old in the
Moka Pot. Was better a few days ago, but the lemon and citrus still came
through some. I really like that in the MP.
Roasted 9 batches of coffee today and had lots of fun. This afternoon I had
a MP of Koratie DP that was about 4 hours rested. Some of the berries and
fruit came through. I'm hoping that it will be more obvious after a few
days rest.
hope all had a great labor day.

Bill,
Thanks for your review on your morning cup. What do you use for brewing
other than the MP? How does the Koratie WP taste as a drip or in a french
press?

Jeff, I didn't love the Koratie in the vac pot...probably that it was
different than a Yirga Cheffe, which I really enjoy in the VP. Anyway, I
lack the correct cupping skills to describe it, but it seemed like there was
a "hole" in the beginning part of the cup. That is, as I first drank a cup,
it would taste...bad. That's the best I can do. But not terrible, just not
great. And then the aftertaste would come, and that was awesome. So I was
drinking it as a MP because I thought it tasted great there.
I should do a brewer throwdown one of these days... I'll do the DP in the
VP soon... I'll report my findings.
peace
