IIRC the stuff in URNEX is the same stuff as in Tilex, and is kind of like a 
hyped up bleach. I don't know exactly what your plastic tank is made of, but 
the tank in my Delonghi espresso maker (don't use it, don't have a good 
tamper for it) is made of PETE, or the same plastic as in pop bottles. The 
bottle that Urnex comes in, and the one that bleach and ammonia comes in is 
HDPE, (milk jug plastic) therefore I have great confidence in telling you 
that you might not have any problem at all using Urnex since both are forms 
of Polyethylene. Is that indefinite enough?
Seriously I'm not a chemist, but if you think about it, if URNEX was that 
horribly corrosive, it would be packaged in glass. I would be more concerned 
about the brass, but since you don't leave it in for any great length of 
time don't sweat it. I personally just use vinegar once a month.
