Topic: Aeropress / Filtron (3 msgs / 47 lines)

Yes, I agree. It's a small price to pay. The "jump" I was referring to was more of a change in procedure. I tend to be a creature of habit. However, I think I've heard what I wanted to hear, folks seem to be pretty pleased with the Aeropress. Certainly nothing negative. Yes, I believe I've talked myself into it.

I also played around with a Filtron cold brew system for a while. I got pretty good results but it was pretty messy. Knocking over the bucket and getting grounds and "syrup" all over the kitchen produces a pretty unhappy wife. Made pretty respectable coffee though. Anyone else have any experience with the Filtron?

John, I have been doing cold water extract for a month or so. I first ran
into it in Peru, in Peace Corps days, and it was just delicious. I usually
drink decaf. but I tried a caffeinated cold water extract. Hit me twice as
hard as hot water extract. So I have been working with decaf. So far I am
not getting the flavor I would like. It seems to be too mellow and not
flavorful enough. I think I am going to try to roast a little darker to see
if I can improve the flavor. How have yours turned out? Bill Copeland

I really had very good results with anything I threw in it. Hate to admit it, but even a pound of Folger's would turn out pretty good. Only drawback was the mess.
