So much meaningless palaver and speculation on how to use coffee pots.
Anybody can build a machine, like a power supply, and hook a voltmeter to
it. Set the regulator for 19.8v dc output and congratulate yourself that
your digital voltmeter with 3-1/2 digit readout indicates 19.82v output.
Or set the temperature control to 198 F, and you measure 198.2 F on t=
he
meter. Different machine with a different feedback path. Wow! Men conquered
the simplest machine, the wedge, back in the stone age.
Nobody says "Look, I can operate a wedge!" anymore. How long are people
going to call attention to their skill in running heaters, with feedback and
control circuits?
The bare fact is, you can make a meter read anything you want. You can even
imagine it's indicating one thing when it's sensor is in a different
process. That's just Advanced Sand Pile.
A butter-smooth shot of Costa Rica was the name of the game about three
hours ago: C+. 18hours out of the roaster and flash frozen, I wondered, "If
this tastes anything like the fabulous aroma coming out of the grinder, I
hope so!"
My Celtic Critic said, "I can't drink it this late but it sure smells good."
I can- Far Exceeded Expectations! Tasted better than it smelled. Pure
reddish-gold crema out of the spouts.
I know- that's not how it tasted, but it looked neat. [Repeat, Repeated!]
Cheers, Mabuhay and Magandang Umaga [Hapon, now!] -RayO, aka Opa!
It's the grinder!

How does he "flash freeze" it? I know that he has shared that with us but I
am afraid I dont remember the particulars......Let me know how and I will
give it a whirl.

I don't understand how anyone could miss the point that reducing the
temperature of the roasted bean below its NDT Temperature would produce
a more uniform grind. Seemed obvious to me....

Another thing- when the grinder has a 650 watt motor, that's a lot of
horsepower- a large fraction of one anyway.
Cold beans in and cool grind out = not too bad unless you're in a sauna and
just plan to look at the grounds rather than brew right away. Heat never has
a chance to destroy when the grounds never get hot.
Additionally, the burrs feel razor sharp- sharper than brand new a couple of
years ago, if that's possible. I just want the beans to break apart sharply
rather than being torn like paper.

It's all in the grinding-

Ray,
Do you just throw the beans in the freezer for a while before you grind?

Measure the quantity to be ground- level- into a double filter basket if
that's what you're going to brew and dump the beans into a ZipLoc sandwich
bag. Lay the bag on a flat surface and spread the beans into a single layer.
Use a folded hand towel to press it flat and press out the air as you seal
the top. The beans neither gain nor lose moisture, and they're close to the
cold in the pressed-flat bag. The 6T Moka pot holds 10 oz H2O in the bottom
tank and brews almost 9oz into the upper tank. I made a Hellacious Moka pot
with 15g of beans, then Brian suggested 20.
When I tried to add a few beans for 20g, I got 21g. OK, 21 it is. THAT was
fabulous!
Another 21g Moka pot is coming right up. The beans are in the freezer...
5 minutes in the freezer with the compressor and circulation fan running is
enough to get the bean surface frozen hard for a trip through the grinder.
It takes me longer than 5 minutes to get the grinder, group dispersion
screen, cavity and gasket free of grounds.
The steam wand works great for the final clean out of the filter basket and
the pf handle for shots.
Too much Lugubriosity for a cup of coffee? You should see the whole show,
from cultivation and weeding through Tom's cupping to the box in your door.
Somebody could arrange an excursion for your family for a year... Wanna sign
up?

I seem to remember that it was 5 to 10 minutes and he turned the thermostat
up so the frig would blow cold air on it.
