Due to the influence of this list, I just received my brand
new PV Export spring lever machine, and am waiting for my Cimbali Max
Hybrid to arrive next week. In the meantime, grinding is done with
a nice 'spro hand grinder.
After a few false starts, the pulled shots w/crema have opened
up a new world for me. Truthfully, in 55 years of traveling around
the world, drinking 'coffee' and 'espresso' drinks everywhere, I
don't think I have ever had anything as marvelous as the shots I now
pull with my fresh roast beans. Thank you everyone!
By the way, "Shot in the Dark' is my favorite; Monkee blend
'spro in a strong Yemen Moka cup -Yum!

Dan,
Welcome aboard. It's nice to see that folks are realizing that the
rewards are not only in the path that you have traveled, they are also
in the product of those efforts.
Exceptional quality 'Spro' does indeed require a serious commitment.
A high quality grinder whether purchased at list or by 'cruising'
eBay, Craiglist etc. is still, usually, an expensive move (not to
discount the kitchen counter 'real estate' that is necessary). For
the seriously committed (committable), exceptional deals on used
commercial grinders can be found.
Used commercial espresso machines can be found at fractions of what it
costs for a high-end pro-sumer machine. If you are 'handy' with a few
basic tools, restoring one of these machines can be a satisfying
endeavor and the finished machine is usually capable of producing
(after a bit of practice) exceptional pulls on a consistent basis.
