Fire + Water + green coffee...if the timing is just right...
But seriously, good luck to you, Scott, hopefully your inventory wasn't
affected.

I'm waiting to hear... as are lots of folks with inventory stored there. The
silver lining is, I don't own the bags, so if they're damaged my problem
will be finding replacements without having to ship beans from a huge
distance.
Gas prices may be coming down, but shipping is still expensive!
cheers,
Scott

I'm thinking there will be an 'exciting new coffee bean' on the market...a
smoked, monsooned Arabica.
Get em while you can...only $500 a half pound.

Scott,
Amen to that brother, hope all turns out ok for you. Economic times are
tough enough out here as it is! Fortunately one of my main warehouses not
too far away. Last Friday made an emergency 6hr round trip $60 in gas run up
to The Greens Room in Auburn for a couple bags rather than have them
shipped. (Goofed major order last month and forgot to order MM, didn't
realize as low as I was and wouldn't have had enough for Saturday's roast
session, component of two blends.) Contacted Mike (just plain) and he buzzed
over from The Dalles and we made a day of it. He'd never been to Espresso
Parts Northwest so we spent a good hour or was it two in Olympia on the flip
side visiting with Terry and crew. If a follower of the Dark Side, that is a
dangerous place with way too many way too cool toys... Ever hear of a La
Marzocco Three by Three? It's a rare old SIX group unit (3 each on two sides
90 degrees offset), Terry showed us pictures of it and some other LM
rarities, he's got a 3x3 coming. Mike was rather drooling over the fully
restored GS2 with custom thick laser etched side panels. (Not that I wasn't,
but I'd seen it before.) Or the 4gr GS paddle group just beginning it's
restoration journey. Etc etc etc. Basically I believe Terry is working on
obtaining and restoring one of EVERY model La Marzocco ever made:-) Oh, that
4gr GS was the FIRST LM Starbucks ever bought, now in much better worthy
hands...
If you're ever around Olympia be sure and stop by. Terry's also opened a
small café there this year off The Olympia Coffee Company roastery attach=
ed
to the EPNW machine, supplies and parts biz. Hell of a first class
operation!

gosh, those machines being restored sound so cool!
Good news is that I just got an offer sheet from the broker and it looks as
though nothing of theirs was damaged.... It may be that what was damaged was
"C" coffee. Heck, that stuff gets put in cans anyway... may not matter if
there was a little "extra cleaning"....
cheers,
Scott --> wants to visit the PNW some kind of bad!

Definitely a class act!

There were at least a dozen restored machines fully capable of
increasing your heart rate. The particular machine that miKe comments
on was an absolute knock out. I recently had the good luck (and
enough change in my pocket) to come across and purchase a two group La
Marzocco GS2 (Paddle group), in relatively good shape (as a starting
point for a complete restoration). When it comes to 'bells and
whistles' and custom work I usually try not to copy someone else's
ideas - - but - - this particular machine at EPNW was turned out in
such exceptionally dramatic trim........that I'm sure I'll have to
copy a few of the ideas.
For those that have a weakness for the equipment side of our
obsession, EPNW is a must see if you are ever in the Olympia Wa. area.
The folks that staff Terry's operation are, without exception,
friendly, competent, knowledgeable and, just generally, the kind of
folks that fit in with the rest of us on this list.
