I've talked to several people where I attend church and they have bragged about the Domincan coffee they drank while there on a mission trip.As long as I've been a SM customer, Tom hasn't offered one yet. Tom, have you cupped any? Are Dominican coffees not quite up to the high standards that we've come to expect from SM?
Thankls!

A friend brought back some coffee from the dominican, pre-roasted,
pre-ground, so expectations were not high. No exciting nuanced flavors, but
some nice cups of coffee. I've been AeroPressing them at work and it's been
enjoyable.

I have bought back green coffee from Haiti (DR neighbor same island) during
mission trips and it's been wonderful. they say if you get a good farm it
will rival Jamaican Blue

D.R. coffee is dominated by a big company, and actually they drink a
heck of a lot of coffee there, so they don't export as much. Like a
lot of coffee available in the country it is produced, the quality is
very low and the tradition is to add sugar, lots of sugar. We had
some years ago and believe me, I would love to find more. I was just
talking to Geoff at Intelligentsia because he was part of a project
there. They have the potential, but he told me that he had never gone
to a place for a week, trying to offer services as a cupper, and a
perspective, and felt like nobody really heard him, and that anything
at all was accomplished. There is really no qualitiy initiative
there, so a lot of the coffee has defect flavors, and sells at basic
market prices or below, for blending or flavoring. I get samples, and
keep hoping someone will make a push there for quality...
