Topic: El Salvador Orange Bourbon--Perfume high notes on fore (29 lines)
1) From: sci
I roasted this beautiful bean to FC in IR2 and waited 24 hours to make a
double shot AP. Nary a 2nd crack. Roast time was 8 min.
This classy cup squeaks it is so clean. But I found something in her that
Tom didn't mention in the cupping review--an uncommon occurence for me.
If anybody roasts this bean, tell me if you experience the following:
At first sip, when the coffee hits the front of my tongue, I sense an
evanescent note of perfume-like sweetness coming up the nasal back draft.
Then, poof, it's gone! It only lasts about 1 second. But it happens every
time I take a sip, all the way to the bottom of the cup. The light
perfume-like high note on the front palate exudes a faint yet crisp
jasmine-ish whiff. No sign of it is expressed in the rear palate or
aftertaste. Once I was conscious of this effect, I noticed it in every cup
of the ESOB I made.
I don't know about you, but smells flood my mind with a rush of memories
unlike any other sense. It is really really odd. I can smell something, like
black tea brewing, and it causes a jolt of vivid memories deep in the past.
