Ok, Who has the canning funnel mod for the Mazzer Mini?  How tall does it=
stand, (grinder & funnel)?  How much do you cut off the funnel?

I learned this trick from Barry Luterman and it's one of my favorite coffee
accessories. The funnel sticks up about 2.5 inches above the Mazzer base -
short enough to clear standard cabinets easily. I didn't trim the bottom,
but I think some people have. I use the funnel with a cheap metal tamper I
got at either Peets or *$s that is exactly the right size to fit in the
throat of the funnel and the Mazzer. I use the tamper to weigh down the
beans while grinding and help keep them from flying out. It also blocks the
throat of the Mazzer so the beans don't go into the grinder until I've had a
moment to make sure the Mazzer is on the right setting if I've been changing
the grind.
Once I've ground the beans, I use the funnel in the portafilter basket to
help keep the grinds from spilling when I transfer them from the catch bowl
I use under the Mazzer to the basket. When I'm done, the funnel goes back
on the Mazzer ready for the next shot.
When I first saw the funnel in Barry's kitchen, I thought it was a standard
part for the Mazzer. The stainless goes perfectly with the grinder and
gives it a finished look you don't get when you take off the beans hopper.
For less than $10, there are few other coffee toys that are so useful.

You cheat, Zara! I pull the stop, so the beans will all go into the
grinder's maw before they have a chance to thaw in the funnel. Never mind
when I start the grinder early for an easy adjust. "Phhht!" goes faster than
I think...
Grinding too big is OK because you really can regrind to a smaller size,
Naysayers notwithstanding. Exactly what happens when the recognized comical
burr grinders- all of them- have dual stage burrs that make big chunks in
the initial stage and feed the second, fine stage that makes the small
pieces you want.
Reversing it is well neigh impossible...

Jim,
If you are asking about Mazzer mods, it seems that you must now OWN a
Mazzer, and therefore, congratulations are in order!
