Topic: OT: Toper on eBay (9 msgs / 153 lines)
1) From: Derek Bradford
Did anyone on the list happen to pick up the Toper 1kg on eBay this
morning? It went for $1300; a good deal if it works as well as the seller
said it did. I considered it, but it's electric and I really want gas.

What was the url? I would have been interested, had I seen it, but I did
not. At that price, the electric would have been a good deal.

Thanks. I suspect that shipping from England would cost as much as the
price of the roaster, so while still a good deal, it would not be a great
one.

I got a shipping quote of about $200.

"...a good deal if it works as well as the seller said it did."
Of course, it does- you can always depend on the seller's statements and
pictures. Maybe the seller also wanted a gas machine and just checked the
rong box on the order form.
Topers are distributed by Delaware City Coffee. Size, heat source and color
are up to you. What a Great Price! Amazing- couldn't even build it that
cheap, I think.

Solar- Yes, but the Lunar Model has a lens and a big parabolic reflector.
Works fine 14 days and shuts completely off 14 days. You'd never hear First
Crack! Could be SOL if you run out of roast at the rong time.
Coffee might never stale. Vacuum pumps wouldn't work- an open tin can would
be better than vacuum sealing! *$ would leave a very large Carbon footprint.
The *$ Cfp tax would be added to your non-decaf, partially hydrogenated,
Venti, Low fat, no whipped cream Mocha with room drink. Artificial bean
flavorings might evaporate or effervesce.
