I had a fun Yemen Mokha Ismaili double shot. For my next trick I will blend
a little Brazil Fazenda Barreira into the grind, and that will be an amazing
well rounded little cortado. I know this because they stand pretty well on
their own and can't help but complement each other.

Is this a blend or choices? The Tanzanian is one of my favorite single
origins for a press. I prefer it a bit darker though.

A thermos of each is at work with me to share with all.

At home, an AP of El Salvador Orange Bourbon.
Total chocolate bomb.
Yesterday I roasted some El Salvador Finca Mauritania, a light city/
city+. I think I'll give it another day of rest - tomorrow I'll mix
the teeny bit left of the Orange Bourbon with some Yemen Mokha
Sharasi I have left from a previous batch.
I gotta say, I've been mostly an Arabian coffee fan, but I'm starting
to really appreciate the centrals.

This morning I had a French press of Guatemala Oriente, roasted to the
verge of 2nd crack on Saturday. It's a good cup but I'm not as excited
about it as other seem to be. It's really fun to roast with a heat
gun, however. The chaff appears much earlier than most beans, rising
off the beans in a flurry like a snowstorm. Interestingly, my roasting
partner, who is 7, discovered that the chaff actually tastes quite
sweet. I tried it myself; it tastes just like corn flakes. I don't
know if all chaff tastes good, or just the Oriente. I think that
because it separates from the bean at such a low temperature, the
sugars don't get cooked off.

FTO Harrar, FC+ roast. I've gone through about a full pot thus far and my
head is still foggy. I had too many martinis last night me'thinks... Or
maybe it's the fact that we were drinking them from big margarita glasses
instead of more normal sized martini glasses.

This morning, my wife delivered coffee to the bedside for me. Immediately,
I could smell the fruit from the cup. There is booming fruit in the
olfactory and on the palate, but I didn't remember roasting any Ethiopian
coffees recently, so I went and looked at the label on the jar: Ethiopia
Koratie DP, roasted in the RK Drum on 03/28/2009. Brewed in the Technivorm
this morning and still booming with berry and melon after 3 1/2 weeks. What
a fantastic way to wake up!
What's in your cup?

Ironically enough, I just roasted some of that DP Koratie last Friday
after not roasting it for several months...the very last of my stash.
*Sigh*. I love those fruit-bomb Ethiopians, and the situation over
there has me lamenting each wonderful cup.
In my mug is another roast from last Friday, an El Salvador Santa Rita
Full Natural roasted to about Full City. The dependents in my office
tell me it tastes wonderful; I, however, have a slightly plugged set
of nostrils, so I'm missing out on a lot of the aromatic subtleties.
Booooo. Oh well...it happens, and there are far worse lots to handle.

I don't have anything quite so old. Mine is all very young *grin*.
However, I wish my current cup were a little more rested. Nonetheless, I am
enjoying a cup of Harar Horse, roasted this past Saturday afternoon to City
Plus. Fruity, a touch of spice, not much body, though, probably because it
needs a bit more rest.

I am enjoying a two day old 50:50 mix of yemen sanaani and new oriente
guatemalan (greens are getting about a year old), roasted to city in
the behmor. I have a cold so I'm not getting many flavors, just
acidity sensation. Hope the cold goes away so I can see what I have.
