I have the old D model with the digital panel, but no programming controls,
so I'm not sure if my approach is relevant to the B model, but I can usually
start a 2nd roast within 10 minutes after the first finishes. I think I
learned this technique from someone else on this list, but so long ago, I
can't remember who first posted about it.
As soon as the beans drop into the cooling tray, I take off the bean chute
cover, the rear filter, and the chaff tray. That lets more air circulate
through the drum which helps cool it down faster. Once the cooling cycle
finishes, I run a second cooling cycle (start a roast and hit eject
immediately) without replace the cover, filter, or tray. By that point,
it's usually cool enough for a 2nd roast to start. I imagine you could also
take off the front cover with the window to cool things even faster, but it
will be very hot, so protect your hands.

Zara it is unnecessary on the new hot top models. After finishing a roast
just start another. The machine will automatically go into a cool down mode
. During cool down the fan only comes on. When the temp hits 160 the machine
goes into pre-heat. Total time less than 5 min between roasts.

Another reason to upgrade! I just need the time and patience to install the
new board.

Carol,
I do exactly what Barry said. Just start the next roast after the
first one finishes cooling, let it go through it's cooldown and
preheat cycle again, and you should be fine. I can get it to cool
quicker by pulling out the filter (I give it a minute after the roast
is done to catch any particles before I pull it out). Just make sure
you are around to catch it when it switches from the cooldown cycle to
heating again, since if you pass the point where you want to start
the roast, you will have to wait for another cooldown. (I walk away
to get my next batch weighed out, and sometimes miss it).
There is a little bit of residual heat in the body of the roaster, so
the temp on the display may be a bit different for the 2nd roast, so
always judge the end of the roast by smell, sight and sound rather
than relying on the preset temperature (best to do this for all roasts
anyway).
Also, the B models get angry if you take out the chaff tray (won't
start another roast), so I'd avoid doing that to try to speed up the
cooldown cycle.
