Mike -- I know the feeling! Although I own a magazine, not a coffee
shop, being a business owner sometimes means you work for free. That's
just how it goes sometimes...and I hear that from lots of business
people, so we're all in the same boat. It will pay off eventually, though!
There is a really nice coffee shop for sale here if you'd like another
(very distant!) location while you're at it. Would Minnesota be too much
of a commute? ;)
Funny thing is that it was actually really successful, but the owner
just couldn't handle it. She didn't realize how much work it would be!

Less and less do I qualify as a home roaster. Realized it's been a month or
so since I've roasted. At home in the garage that is.
Don't be mistaken like I'm getting rich or something, haven't paid myself a
dime since May, just employees get paid and always on time!

Is the shop far from Stillwater, MN? I should be moving there soon.

Sheila,
Where in Minnesota? 2.5 hours from Stillwater could put you in
Duluth, or the western suburbs of Minneapolis or St. Cloud.

Willmar...it's about an hour SW of St. Cloud or two hours from the MSP
airport.

I grew up in Minnesota. I lived in Hutchinson, not too far from
Wilmar from 2nd grade - 7th grade. It sounds like a nice business to
own. Wilmar is a nice community. If my roots were not down as deep
as they are where I live now, I would be tempted to look into it.
In Wilmer you could get away with naming an espresso blend, "Swedish Plasma."
