Topic: MACAP M4 auto shutoff mechanism and grind uniformity (37 lines)
1) From: A
1)I just got a MACAP M4 stepless with doser and on/off switch. The motor sh=
ut off when I was adjusting the dial between #2 and about #6 in testing it.=
I was told by vendor there is an automatic shut-off mechanism that kicks i=
n if the motor gets too hot, to prevent overheating. However, I don't think=
I had it on more than 1 minute or so.

Does anyone know of this mechanism or if it is set by overheat or by # mins=
(it is NOT a timer model)? There is nothing in the manual about it.

Any experience with it at all? Anything on the web about it, etc.?

How would I tell if there is really just something wrong with my motor?

2)The grinds (individual particle size) seem pretty uniform in the espresso=
range but as they get coarser, the particle size seems less uniform. I was=
 told I will never get 100% uniformity ( a sample from a Mazzer in a coffee=
bar proved that for espresso grind) but by #5 I would say the non-uniformi=
ty is noticeable, maybe significant. Does anyone know if the uniformity dec=
reases as the coarseness increases? In case I ever want to brew other types=
of coffee, I would like to know this machine is capable of that too. How m=
uch is too much lack of uniformity (any web resources with pics are also =
helpful if you know of any).

thanks all...
