We are mostly above water here at Ft. Lewis, some of the lower areas on post flooded and trees are starting to fall. The river valleys are taking it pretty bad. Some of the rivers haven't crested yet. We finally are getting a break in the rain and have seen some blue sky.

While I'm not Mike, my parents live in Vancouver, and I'm down here in
Portland. We seem to have missed the brunt of the storm as compared to
the Chehalis area and north
Been pretty windy, rainy, but nothing terrible in terms of flooding in
this area.

Here in Skamania County, Stevenson Washington we have one creek that
can cause problems aside from the Columbia River.
If the water goes over the concrete bridge it could wipe out the
sewage treatment plant. So far it has not over topped the bridge.
Check out our web cams. Sometimes the event cam is on the bridge to
monitor it 24x7.http://www.cityofstevenson.com/index3.htmlThe real problem has been Rock Creek Slide just up stream of the
vehicle bridge. It has already taken out several homes.http://www.rockcreekslide.com/601.htmlHwy North and South is where the trouble is. No road or train traffic
to Seattle Washington. Will be shut down for a few days.

Thanks for asking, Ed. I'm up in the Everett area and doing fine. Most of
the trouble is South of Seattle. Up here, highway 9 is closed at Snohomish
so traffic on I-5 is thick. There's some standing water in places along the
roads, but not flooding per se. I can't speak for the folks along the
Stillaguamish, though. They were clobbered a couple of years ago when a lot
of water came down out of the mountains. I saw big stumps tossed up from
the river onto peoples' front yards. I expect they're suffering this time
too.

When I lived in Seattle, I had to go up to Everett to do a probate
hearing one fall day in 1975 and the Snohomish County flooding was
unsettling--water up to the rooflines of ranch houses. Closest to
that I've seen since then is the Mississippi R. flooding last May,
especially in Davenport, IA; and along Hwy 61 south of Minneapolis in
2002. Water was lapping at the freeway shoulders.
