Our first Behmor fire started just as cooling started on a batch of *India
Mallali Estate "Tree-Dried Natural". *Pulled the plug turned on the
overhead fan and waited about 30 secs until the smoke stopped and then
plugged her back in and pushed cool. The roast was a perfect FC+.
I had a 5 lb order to fill with 5 different beans, so we've been
experimenting with P3 and P4. Used the P3 C for all the Zigzag blend. Used
P4 C for the Guatemala Antigua Los Pastores Peaberry and it was delicious.
Added all the time possible to the end of the roast. Roasted some Java and
added 30 secs to the first leg using P3 C and it seemed to work well to get
the roast a slight bit darker than adding all to the end of the roast.
This is roaster is heaven sent. I have arthritis in my hands, so my husband
has been roasting HG/DB/BBQ for the last two years. Last Friday, he was
diagnosed with a DVT (blood clot) in his right leg, so roasting is not an
option for awhile. It hurts to much too stand. With the Behmor I can roast
any time of day or night without pain or getting cold and wet from all the
rain we've been having.
Thanks to all of you for your reviews, reports, tips and tricks. Thanks for
doing the consumer testing, so I could purchase with less risk.
Take care,
Ann

Ann,
Glad your fire was "uneventful" and spared your beans. Isn't it
wonderful when the little disasters produce such sweetness?
As for your husband, I pray he recovers soon. We went through similar
issues with my wife during the last pregnancy. It's not fun at all.

I had my 2nd Behmor fire last night. I was roasting a half-pound of the n=
ew IMV crop to send to my sis in Minneapolis. Hit cool at the end of 1st cr=
ack and then opened the door a bit to speed up the cooling. Oops...bad idea=
with a heavily-chaffed coffee. I kind of realized my mistake right away, s=
o I was able to catch it before it really got going. Turned it off, flames =
went out and I started cooling again. Ended up with a nice C+ roast. I can =
smell the fruit right out of the roaster. Last fire was a lot worse and the=
roast smelled strongly of smoke. This time I think I got away with it. No =
smoky smell this morning after resting in an open container.
