Topic: Gene Cafe repair question (3 msgs / 56 lines)

Well it happened, the little rubber bumper on the chaff flap finally split in two. While I await a replacement, does anybody have an easy fix? I was thinking of making one out of J.B. Weld high temp goop.

My GC came with an extra bumper in a bag stapled to the manual. Is this
an option (or perhaps a stupid question since you're looking for
alternatives)?

If you have access to a tube ($$) of the red RTV ?silicone?
I can't picture your problem exactly, but maybe Radio Shack would have a
rubber bumper foot that would suffice until you get the right one.
If JB Weld has suitable goo, it will be far less expensive than RTV putty,
by 10:1. Got the last one Gateway Electronics had on the shelf- $7.50. I
scarfed that baby!
It cost a King's ransom for the identical stuff we used to
Moisture-Fungus-Proof certain electronic spares we got at Clark AB in the

(We were in the Philippines, Thailand, Okinawa, Korea and VietNam- Not SEA!)
Your tax dollars at work.
Try to get two (2) of the rubber baby buggy bumpers, and use what you got in
the meantime.
