Topic: Smorgasbord Tradition (5 msgs / 98 lines)
1) From: John Grubbs
Following up on JavaJerry's generous gift of the Krups Novo espresso maker,
I'd like to offer a smorgasbord -- or hodgepodge -- tradition. An
opportunity for someone to expand his or her brewing methods. This offer
includes...
- Moka pot, aluminum, small (3 tasse, I think)
- French press "set", glass, 3 tasse, with two small glass and metal coffee
cups
- JavaPress travel french press, Lexan, 33 oz., with insulating jacket
- Milk frother. This device is somewhat like a french press, with a heavy
metal cup suitable for heating milk on a stove and a press-type cap and
plunger for frothing.
To enter, send me an email off-list. In about a week, I'll print all the
entries, toss them in the bread machine, bring to City+ with the heat gun,
grind in the Trosser, and pick the winner by cupping (or something not even
vaguely resembling this process).
Good luck,
John, in Birmingham

BTW, is the library tradition still moving around?
I started that one years (?) ago in response to two things. I won Ginny's
Thor tamper tradition in memorial to Alfred's (Albert? sorry if I got it
wrong) death.
Alfred was an elderly gentleman that came to the list that loved martinis
and always had good questions. Therefore, the library I collected of coffee
books seemed to be a fitting response.
FYI, the tradition was of 6(?) books that was sent to you to read, and then
some months later you passed them on.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe.
Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion.
I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate.
All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.

According to my archive, Jim De Hoog gave it to Darlene Stanthorpe in
December '08. So it's still moving around.

Just a reminder to anyone else who wants to be in the draw for this
tradition. The cutoff will be tomorrow night, Thursday, Feb. 12, 9:00 CST.
