Topic: OT posting - New coffee RSS feature (9 msgs / 177 lines)
1) From: Tom & Maria - Sweet Maria's Coffee
Glad to see everyone marking OT posts so diligently, but it would be
nice to see some NOT marked OT!
By the way, on the may page we have a new RSS feature for coffees
that is really simple to add to your browser home page or what have
you ... It lists them one at a time, and links to the review, so it
very straightforward. Might be a good way to keep track of coffee
listings. As discussed, the blog will have new coffee posts, but I am
using it discuss current cuppings, and other relevant coffee topics...

Thanks, Tom. This sounds really good. I love RSS. Also, I agree
about the number of "OT"s. I know we can just ignore them, so really
they shouldn't bother me, but it just is more stuff I need to wade
through. I can set the filter to junk all the OT posts, but once in
a while there is an OT marked message which really isn't OT. Usually
a beginner trying to follow the rules to the letter and I nerve want
t leave behind a new roaster friend.
Thanks again for the update on the RSS.

Thanks, Tom. I was going to mention it myself, but I'm still kind of a
newbie, and also didn't want to be a spoilsport. It's been an awful lot of
OT lately!

It's at:
www.sweetmarias.com/rss/rss.php
If you're at the main page or the green coffee list, there should also be an
RSS icon in the navigation bar that links to the new feed.

If you use Firefox, you should see an RSS icon in your web browser address
bar for any website that has an RSS feed. To see what the icon looks like,
go tohttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSS_(file_format)If you use Internet Explorer 7, I think there is an RSS icon in one of the
toolbars near the top right by default. Since you have a gmail account, you
might want to install the google toolbar for IE so you can add the RSS feeds
to google reader. RSS really simplifies web browsing for websites that
support RSS because you can simply go to the google reader page and see all
the new content in near real time. This feature is particularly useful if
you have a habit of hitting certain pages regularly because you can now just
go to a single page and see all the new content that is available.
If you use another web browser, I suggest you google RSS feeds :)

Tom,
Just so I and others who may read this OT reference don't interpret it
other than you meant it,
Do you mean that it would be nice if more subjects were on topic or
are some posts marked OT when they don't need to be?
Thanks Tom,
Joe
