Topic: Nailing the Roast - Thur. Cup (3 msgs / 67 lines)

This morning I am indulging in an ultra fine cup of Nicaragua
Limoncillo Java Longberry. It has been about 2 months since I have
enjoyed a Central coffee. What is most enjoyable besides the result
was simply nailing the roast. My target on the USRC was a 427 degree
finish in 15 min. At 14 minutes and 50 seconds I was at 426 and just
as it went to 15 min., the Watlow read 427. I hit my target
temperature and into the cooling tray it went. Visual inspection of
the beans was so satisfying. What is even better is the cup results.
I am getting a nice lemon cookie at the beginning followed by a nice
full malt flavor finishing with a bit of chocolate. This is a nice
balanced cup that has a mild brightness to it. A full flavored cup
without an edge, what more could a homeroaster want!

Congratulations, Les. It is such a great feeling to hit on the
head. Your description sound mouth watering.
I am drinking a nice hot cup of Costa Rica El Puente "Caturra
Miel" I have had it for some time and am finally roasting the
beans. It is only 45 hours out, a bit early on the rest side of
things. Yet, the potential of how nice it will be in about two days
is dangling on the back end of each sip. I already has the apricot
flavor which Tom describes, but just barely, and absolutely at the
end of the sip.
Hoping it continues into the place this bean was meant to be roasted!
