Topic: iR2 repairs (2 msgs / 71 lines)

Hi folks!
I'm new to the list but have a (potential) problem I'd like help with =
(proactively).
I just bought a new iR2 that popped the fusible thermal link on my third =
roast. I suspect I didn't let it cool down enough between roasts, =
although I did wait the 30 minutes cautioned on the outside of the unit. =
The iR2 folks are replacing the base, so I have no problem with =
Hearthware or the folks who sold me the unit (not SM alas).
However, being a longtime hardware hacker, I'm sure I could fix this =
myself. Since I'm getting a warranty replacement, I didn't open up the =
base. But next time, Id like to avoid sending in the unit.
Has anyone already attempted this fix? Can you give me a pointer where =
to find the broken link inside the unit? And where do I find replacement =
parts?
Thanks for any pointers.
-Jon

I suspect there isn't a fusable link as such; I have a unit where one =
of the coils opened up. Most likely you had a defective unit, if it =
died on the 3rd roast.
Here's some breakdown, but not the coil assembly - I need to take =
pictures of that at some point.
One day (when the kids aren't sick, and I'm not critically needed on =
two different projects at work both vying for my time), I'll get =
around to putting this unit back together with manual control....then =
comes the arduino PID control :)http://www.radioactive.org/iRoast2%20Teardown/Photos.html-
