Topic: La Peppina (6 msgs / 140 lines)
1) From: Les
I just scored a new La Peppina 1100 watt lever espresso machine. It
is an awesome find. It is a new machine, never used. It has been
years since these machines have been made. Better yet, the place I am
getting it from has gone through the new machine and replaced all of
the aged rubber parts and gaskets with brand new ones. I can hardly
wait to pull some shots on this machine. I have been saving up for a
Gaggia Achille, but this came along and the funds were there. Since
we seem to enjoy talking about hardware more than coffee beans on the
list right now, I thought I would share my joy! Tomorrow morning I
will be pulling espresso drinks from the Bali rested 6 days. One of
the nice things about the morning coffee ritual is having something to
look forward to the next day when I go to bed.

Cool find! Why aren't you content with your Cremina?

Ed,
I bet Les is happy with his Cremina. If I know Les he just loves
machines, especially one's having to do with coffee...am I close Les?

Joe,
You are spot on! Since the tax guy told me that I can have a machine
in each PF size and write them off on my taxes for R and D for Thor
Tamper, my goal is to have a 45mm, 49mm, 51mm, and 58mm lever in the
stable some day. I love my Cremina. However, the La Peppina is a
very different machine. It doens't have the traditional boiler. It
simply heats the water and is gravity fed. So adjusting the
temperature in the water heater to 204, you can flush and pull a very
stable 203 degree shot. It won't over heat either. A unique machine
that according to all reports pulls an awesome shot. As always, the
proof is in the cup.

Les,
I can't wait to hear what you think of the results. They don't get
much more basic. Do you know the vintage on this one?

I've seen 47mm machines, but I don't think I've seen a lever one in that
size.
