Brian,
I probably mentioned before that I collect and look for Zassenhaus
grinders. I found a German lady on ebay with a large collection. Any
one looking would have run across her. I managed to get a mint unit
from her. The size of a knee style. One day I looked up on the shelf
and pulled it down to show a friend. He smelled it and looked real
close and said this is mint. I said what! Sure enough. If I could of
read German I would have seen it in her description. $ is scarce now
so I'm just a looker for the economic time being.
Ask the seller questions directly if you have any doubts. Good luck and enj=
oy.

Joe,
I bought two or three grinders from the same German woman, I think.
She still has listings occasionally. She was very good to deal with. A
while after I received the grinders, she sent an email. She was
concerned that she hadn't heard from me, and sent me an email asking
if I was happy with the grinders.

Brian,
I'm sure it is her. I had mentioned using one as a gift and later she
sent me a miniture Zass pepper mill as a gift. A gesture of gratitude
I'm sure. Wonderfull lady. Love to travel someday and met her. You
don't find sellers like this often.
Cheers,

For older classic boxes/grinders they look like a good option to the ebay game.

Doug and Barb are nice people and Doug does a great job completely
refurbishing them and then tests their abilities to grind for espresso
or drip. He can't keep up with demand on the espresso quality ones.
You just have to keep checking the listing. I've seen a couple
workable mods for the burr carriers on the new ones that does
stabilize them without wear. ebay prices for hand mills has
skyrocketed in the last couple years. Most are only in drip grind
condition at best.

I have had good service from Doug and Barb. The espresso machine I
bought from them was better than described. The Grinder meets all of
my expectations and I am fussy! It isn't a Zass, but it beats my best
Zass grinder. If they say it will do espresso, it will do espresso.

Zass has gone downhill because of the design of the burr carrier, I have al=
so seen mods to correct the flaws (I don't remember where right now).  =
I've come across a newer manual grinder  the Hario Skerton (Skelton? Skel=
eton?) which has ceramic burrs.  Apparently there is a problem with float=
on the burrs because they are supported from the top (handle end) only so =
the grind can be uneven, the design should be more stable at finer than coa=
rser settings.  On the basis of "you get what you pay for" I've got to wo=
nder about the overall quality.

assures truth and accuracy in marketing. I would buy from them.
